Dr. Dayena Lee 

Dr. Dayena Lee grew up in Greensboro NC after moving to the U.S. from South Korea at the age of 5! She attended UNC-Chapel Hill for undergraduate studies, double majoring in Psychology and Asian Studies. She then received her master’s degree in Physiology from NC State University. She went on to attend UNC-Chapel Hill School of  Dentistry receiving her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. 

During dental School, Dr. D. Lee was part of many student organizations focused on giving back to the community and was awarded the International College of Dentistry Philanthropy award.

Before Mebane Oaks Family Dentistry, Dr. D. Lee worked in public health Dentistry as one of the lead dentists and also as the assistant dental director for Piedmont Health Services. During this time, Dr. D. Lee also worked in several private dental offices around the triangle area.

Dr. D. Lee, alongside Dr. K Lee, is an adjunct faculty member at UNC School of  Dentistry and continues to give back to the community by helping dental students in various community outreach dental programs.

In her free time, she loves travelling and experiencing new adventures with her husband,  Dr. Alex Chong, also a dentist in the triangle area. They currently live in Durham, NC  with their 15-year-old Chihuahua, Choco. 

Dr. D. Lee is a member of the NC Dental Society, American Dental Association, and  Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Kandice Lee 

Dr. Kandice Lee was born in California but raised in North Carolina. Moving to Charlotte at a young age, she considers herself a true North Carolinian. Her parents, immigrants from South Korea, taught her from an early age what it meant to work diligently, respectfully, and with compassion.

While the decision for dentistry came years later, she started her journey and interest in the healthcare field with a science-driven education, beginning at Myers Park High School’s International Baccalaureate Program. She went on to study Biology at UNC-Chapel Hill for her undergraduate studies, followed by a Master’s degree in Physiology from NC State University. She has since decided that the fairest way to deal with the university rivalry is to support UNC basketball and NC State football. She then completed her education at UNC-Chapel Hill- School of Dentistry, where she received the training to not only diagnose and restore dentition but to offer comprehensive care. 

Following graduation, she went on to work in public health being able to refine her skills and give back to a community in need. It was here that she learned the significance between the mouth and a patient's overall health as well as the importance of oral health education. 

In her free time, Dr. K. Lee enjoys spending time with her family and friends, travelling,  reading, and doing yoga. On most weekends you can find her relaxing with her husband Dr. Matt Barnes and fur baby Rylee.

Dr. K. Lee is a member of the NC Dental Society and the American Dental Association. 

Hope - Office Manager 

As the Office Manager at Mebane Oaks Family Dentistry, Hope works closely with our team to ensure every visit is smooth, comfortable, and stress-free—from check-in to check-out.

Often described as the glue that holds our dental family together, Hope brings warmth, organization, and dedication to everything she does.

With over 13 years of dental office experience and more than 22 years in patient care, Hope is passionate about helping others. She feels truly grateful to work alongside skilled doctors and a dedicated team who share the same goal—helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles.

Hope lives in Cedar Grove, where she cherishes time spent with her close-knit family. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, vegetable gardening, fishing, watching movies, and yes—even mowing the lawn, which she loves.

She looks forward to assisting you with every aspect of your dental visit and making you feel right at home.

Cindy - Registered Dental Hygienist

With more than 20 years of experience in dental hygiene, Cindy is passionate about promoting oral health through education, prevention, and personalized care. She believes a healthy smile starts with trust- and she works hard to make every patient feel comfortabl, heard, and cared for.

As one of nine siblings and a proud mom of energetic twins, Cindy developed the patience, empathy, and multitasking skills that now define her professional approach. Her calm presence and gentle technique help patients of all ages feel at ease, while her clinical knowledge ensures top-tier care with every visit.

Wheather she’s guiding a nervious child through their first cleaning or educating adults on long term oral health, Cindy brings a warm, reassuring presence and a deep commitment to her patients’ well being.

Selene - Patient Care Coordinator 

Selene is the friendly face that welcomes you when you walk through our doors. Born and raised in Durham, NC, she’s the oldest of four siblings and brings a strong sense of responsibility, compassion, and care to her role every day.

With several years of experience as a medical assistant and over six years in customer service, Selene brings both clinical knowledge and exceptional communication skills to our front desk. She is also a certified medical and public translator, fluent in Spanish, which allows her to connect with and support a diverse group of patients more personally and effectively.

Selene truly enjoys helping patients feel comfortable and cared for, and her favorite part of the job is building relationships with individuals from all walks of life.

Outside the office, she loves spending time with her energetic 2-year-old Yorkie, indulging in all things pink, relaxing at the beach, and diving into a good crime documentary.
